Alaska Airlines Booking

There is no real trick to booking a flight with Alaska Airlines. You will find their rates on all major OTAs and prices are generally the same across the board. If you are booking an international itinerary that may include flights on other airlines, you will find more options when searching for third-party sites that may not appear when searching directly on the Alaska site. As always, compare by searching multiple sites for the best deals.
Alaska often has a weekly advertised sale. Most of the time, these are standard price drops, but Alaska sometimes has 24- or 48-hour flash sales, where prices drop dramatically on trips across the country and flights to Hawaii. Sign up for rate alerts to see when Alaska has the best sales.
When booking on the Alaska website, you can choose to search from the main search tool on their home page, or you can navigate to a flexible date calendar search by selecting "all search options." After choosing the dates on the calendar and clicking continue, you will be given the option to choose between a Savings, Principal or First Class rate. If you choose a Saver rate, a pop-up window will appear asking if you want to accept the Saver rate restrictions or upgrade to a Main rate. Once you have chosen your flights, simply click "add to cart".
You will then be asked to fill in your passenger information and you will be given the option to continue or "skip seats". It is always a good idea to check and see what seats are available to reserve. Even if you're traveling on a Saver fare, you might be lucky and able to reserve seats in the back of the plane for free. If there's no seat option you like, simply choose to skip seats and take advantage of a better seat assignment at check-in, or upgrade to a prime rate for more options.
On the final payment screen, you will be asked to purchase "highly recommended" travel insurance. Personally, I think these airline travel insurance plugins are a scam as I heard stories that it is very difficult to receive benefits when you need to make a claim. Be sure to read the details of the plan carefully if you decide you want to; otherwise, simply decline the insurance and complete your purchase.
Once you have purchased your ticket, you will have 24 hours to cancel free of charge, even with a Saver ticket, as long as your flight is more than 24 hours from your scheduled departure time. And if your flight is entirely within Alaska, there are no exchange rates on the main fares, even after the 24-hour risk-free period.
