Icelandic airline Wow Air has collapsed, leaving many
passengers with reserved flights wondering what to do next.
The airline's website said it had ceased operations and
canceled all flights this morning, after it was reported that they had been in
talks with potential investors. The site says that passengers who need to
travel should book with other airlines.
But will you be able to get compensation or are you expected
to finance new flights yourself? It turns out it's a bit tricky, but it's
unlikely you'll have to pay the full price for a replacement flight.

If rebooking is an emergency (i.e. you are stranded at an
airport) check rates with other airlines. The Independent travel editor Simon
Calder says airlines including Wizz Air, Easyjet and Norwegian were offering
discounted flights.
Norwegian said repatriation fees would be available at a 25%
discount, subject to availability, provided passengers could show a valid Wow
Air reservation. They would be available until April 8.
The Wow website says that passengers covered by various
protected booking methods, including those who booked by credit card or through
a European travel agent, should try to get their money back.
Otherwise, it says they may be entitled to compensation from
Wow, "even in accordance with European regulations on air passenger
rights."
If the company files for bankruptcy, claims must be filed
with the administrator or liquidator.
