Alaska Airlines Baggage Policy

Alaska Airlines accepts, free of charge, a measuring carry bag, including wheels and handles, up to 22 "x 14" x 9 "(56 x 36 x 23 cm) plus a personal item such as a handbag, kennel, briefcase , musical instrument, or laptop, Every effort will be made to accommodate your carry-on luggage in the passenger cabin, with at least one of the items stored under the seat in front of you.
Carry-on baggage is accepted based on the availability of space on the plane at the time of boarding. When there is not enough space available, your carry-on luggage will be checked to claim the luggage at its final destination, free of charge. However, items that exceed carry-on baggage will be checked and will be charged $ 30 per piece.
On flights operated by Horizon Air or SkyWest (Bombardier CRJ700 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft), due to the smaller overhead storage dimensions and space under the seats, larger carry-on items will be placed in an airplane cart before boarding. These specially tagged items will be returned to the cart for retrieval in a designated area on the ramp or reaction bridge within 5 minutes of disembarking. Fragile or high-value items should not be left in the airplane cart, but carried in the cabin with you.
Exceptions
No item may exceed the maximum dimensions, except the following items which can count as a carry-on bag as long as they can be safely stored in a compartment in the aircraft cabin: fishing rods, delicate scientific equipment, small musical instruments, paintings, art / advertising portfolios and human organs.
The following items qualify as Alaska Airlines baggage Policy exceptions when carried on board and will not count as carry-on or personal items:
• Umbrellas, coats, hats.
• A pillow (personal use).
• Food for consumption during the flight.
• Reading material (reasonable amount).
• FAA approved child / infant car seat to be occupied by a child, stroller (based on space availability; space guaranteed only with the purchase of a baby ticket).
• Service animals and emotional support animals (duly documented).
• Healthcare / mobility devices (canes, crutches, wheelchairs, approved portable oxygen concentrators - POC, continuous positive airway pressure machines - CPAP, etc.).
• Prescription drugs and medical devices needed to administer them (eg syringes, self-injections) as long as they meet safety standards and hazardous materials and are stored in a bag that contains nothing more than medical devices or medications.
Checked baggage
To ensure your checked bags are loaded on your flight, Alaska Airlines only accepts checked bags within 4 hours of your scheduled departure (3 hours in Vancouver and 2 hours in Calgary) and until check-in deadline.
Self-label
Passengers can save time by using the option to tag their bags, online or at a kiosk. Self-Tag Online is available during web check-in when traveling on domestic flights, except flights from Dillingham, Dutch Harbor, Glacier Bay / Gustavus, King Salmon, and Las Vegas. Upon arrival at the airport, passengers can go directly to Bag Drop to pick up their reusable tag holders where the printed labels will be inserted at home and to put their suitcases.
Special self-adhesive kiosks are available at most airports so you can print your bag labels yourself, and then drop them off in one of the bag delivery areas. When you check in and pay the applicable checked bag fees at a label kiosk, self-adhesive labels will be printed, along with your boarding pass. Just attach them and drop your bags in a bag drop area.
Size and weight restrictions
Any piece of checked baggage that exceeds the following size and weight restrictions will be considered overweight or oversized baggage and will be charged accordingly:
• 50 pounds of weight.
• 62 linear inches of total size (length + width + height).
Overweight, oversized, or excess baggage (third checked bag and more) will not be accepted on flights to / from Guadalajara between November 15 and January 15. Seasonal baggage limits (no more than 2 checked bags per passenger) apply during peak travel periods to / from Barrow, Bethel, Dillingham, Dutch Harbor, King Salmon, Kotzebue and Nome.
No checked baggage item may exceed the following limits:
• 100 pounds of weight.
