Gmail Password Change

Typically, the first password that people change to enhance security is their email password. For most, this is the most important password because their email is assigned to all of their other digital platforms. That is, online accounts such as: Facebook, Instagram, banking, educational platforms and more were created using the same email. Learn how to change your Gmail password or even recover a forgotten password.
1. Open Gmail in your web browser
2. Log in to the account you want to change the password for
3. In the upper right corner, select the gear icon (see below)
4. In the drop-down menu, click "Settings"
5. Select the "Accounts and Import" tab at the top of the page
6. Next to "Change account settings", choose "Change password"
7. You will be asked to enter your current password before creating your new password
8. For your new password, be sure to create a strong password (for tips on how to create a strong password, click here)
9. After entering the password twice, click "Change password"
10. Your Gmail / Google account will be closed automatically on all devices and when you log in again use the new password
Reset forgotten password
1. On your smartphone or web browser, go to the Google Account Support page
2. Enter the email of the account for which you forgot the password
3. Under the password box, select "Try a different question"
4. This tab will go through different methods to verify your identity. You will need to use at least one of these methods to reset your Gmail password:
• Relive a message on a smartphone connected to your Gmail account
• Receive a recovery email sent to your recovery email
• Entering the date (month / year) that this account was created
• Give a new email address to receive a verification code. Google will still need to verify your identity if you choose to use this method. Those instructions will be given at the new email address.
5. Once the identity has been verified and you have followed the steps to create a new password; use it to log back into Gmail
6. Now don't forget this password!
