Hp Printer Troubleshooting

Users of the HP printer usually face the problem when their printer simply refuses to print anything. This problem can arise due to several reasons ranging from connectivity problems to defective configurations or drivers. If you have a problem like this, the following troubleshooting guide will help you get rid of your printer's printing problem.

1. Go to the solution of basic problems

In case your HP printer stops working, the first thing to do is to check the status of the connection between your printer and your computer. Make sure all your devices are properly connected to each other, and that the network or cable you use to connect these devices works.
You can also risk restarting your HP printer. Turn it off for a couple of minutes, unplug the cable and leave it for a few minutes. Now, plug the cable into the printer and turn it on. See if your problem is solved.

2. Update or reinstall the required drivers.

Most of the time, printers show problems due to defective drivers. You may need to update or reinstall these drivers to solve your printing problem.

3. Set your printer to the default

When you try to print something, your computer will automatically assign that print job to the default printer unless you choose to do it manually with some other printer. Therefore, your HP printer will not be able to print anything if you did not set it up as your default printer or select it as the printer to print.

If your HP printer is not set as the default, follow these steps to make it your default printer:

a) Press the window key together with the R key, both at the same time. This will open the Run dialog box. Type Control Panel in the dialog box and press Enter to open the Control Panel.

b) Select Devices and Printers from the Control Panel.

c) In the Printers section, right click on the logo of your HP printer and select Set as the default printer. Click Yes if requested.

d) Now, you can see a mark below the icon of your HP printer. This means that your printer is now configured as the default printer.

4. Cancel all print jobs

Another common problem that leaves the printer without working is the jammed print queue. If there are failed print jobs in the print queue, you can restrict the normal operation of your printer. Clear all your print jobs so that your printer returns to normal.

a) Go to Control Panel and open Devices and Printers.

b) Right click on your HP printer in the Printers section and select See what is printing.

c) Open the Printer menu and select Open as administrator.

d) Once again, open the Printer menu and select Cancel all documents.

e) When the application window opens, confirm your action.

5. Check the status of your printer

If the Hp Printer Troubleshooting methods mentioned above do not work for you, check if there is a hardware problem with your printer. Make sure your printer has enough paper, ink or toner, and that it is not in a paper jam.
