Yahoo! Mail offers good options to ensure the security of
your account. We will discuss the most common and basic security options you
need to add to rescue yourself from crash situations. They are adding a mobile
phone number and an alternative email address to their Yahoo account. In
addition to these two options, you can enable two-step verification for added
security. Let's take a look at these two for now.
Add
mobile number in Yahoo Mail
• Sign in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
• In your mailbox in the upper right corner, you will see
your name. Move the mouse over it; A drop-down menu will appear. Click on the
"Account Information" link.
• On the page that appears, click the "Account
Security" option on the left side panel.
• Click on the "Telephone Numbers" link in the
right side panel. A window will appear asking you to add a recovery phone
number to your account.
• Select the country and enter the mobile phone number.
Choose between the options "Send SMS" or "Call me".
• You will receive a verification code; enter it and click
"Verify".
Add alternative email address on Yahoo! Mail
• Sign in to your Yahoo account.
• Find your name in the mailbox in the upper right corner.
Mouse over it and you will see a drop down menu. Select the "Account
Information" option.
• Select the option "Account security" in the menu
on the left side.
• Look for the "Add recovery email address" option
on the right side panel. Click it.
• Enter the alternate email address in the field provided
and click the "Send Verification Email" button. This email address
will be used when blocked or for security notifications.
• You will now be asked to verify the email address. To do
this, go to the login page of the email address you just provided. Sign in and
see if you received an email from Yahoo.
• Open the email and click on the link provided there. It
will take you to log into the Yahoo page. Enter your password and you're done.
Your email address is now verified.
• In the event that you don't see any Yahoo email messages
in your alternate mailbox, check the spam folder. Still can't see the mail? Go
to the Yahoo email verification page, look for the "Forward" option
and click it.
