Yahoo Troubleshooting

From time to time, Yahoo Mail members report that their accounts load to a blank page, get redirected to a blank page, or the web browser times out. There are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue. Some solutions are based on fixing a problem accessing or logging in to mail.yahoo.com, while others are aimed at fixing a virus or spyware problem on your local computer and are not related to service updates. Try all the steps below, in order, until one of them works for you. As time passes, the usefulness of the following steps will change. When one of the following solutions fixes a problem, please reply and let us know which step helped you so we can keep the most helpful troubleshooting steps at the top of the list. Thank you.

• Sign in to Yahoo - sign in

• Try the international login page on Yahoo! All and world

• Try to log in from another computer

o If you cannot log in from any other computer, go here: Yahoo - How to recover a lost password / How to regain control of a hacked account | Email Questions

o If you can log in from the second computer, try the following steps on the first computer:

• Force a page refresh. While holding down the control key on your keyboard, press the F5 key.

• Update to the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox from Yahoo!

o The latest versions of Google Chrome or Apple Safari are also available

• Try switching between web browsers, for example, if you use Internet Explorer, try Chrome.

• Try switching between basic and full Yahoo Mail

• Update your Adobe Flash player.

• Update the remaining software on your computer with Secunia PSI

• Clear your web browser's cache

• Make sure cookies are enabled and delete your cookies.

• Internet Explorer users: Restore the default security levels of the web browser.

• Check your antivirus software and make sure it is up to date. If you don't have an antivirus program, I recommend installing Avast personal edition.

• Update and run your anti-spyware programs like Malwarebytes

• Do you have current versions of your firewall and security software, such as Norton Antivirus, installed?

• Instead of using your ISP's DNS servers, use OpenDNS servers.

• Sometimes Yahoo is the problem, try waiting an hour and try logging in to mail.yahoo.com again.

• You've probably already tried, but if not, try restarting your computer.

• You can purchase live support for your account by upgrading to Yahoo Mail without ads.

If you have a problem other than Yahoo Mail that is not fixed by Yahoo troubleshooting steps above.

Yahoo Troubleshooting

Solving problems with your web pages is usually as simple as solving problems with your web browser.
Try a different web browser
The first step in troubleshooting problems you see in one web browser is to simply verify the same content in another web browser. For example, web browsers may display some content differently, so this is a good first step in troubleshooting display problems on your web pages.
Are the pages not loading correctly? Try to view the page in a private or incognito navigation window. Private browsing is a privacy function present in some web browsers that disables the web cache, cookies, browsing history and other tracking functions that the browser may have.
Open a private browsing window
Private browsing is a privacy feature in some web browsers. When accessing web pages in a private browsing window, you will not use any existing cache or cookies.
• Firefox
• Chrome
• Safari (on Mac)
• Internet Explorer 11
• Microsoft Edge
If the web page loads correctly in a private browsing window, the problem may be related to the cache and / or cookies.
Browser cache
Cache (pronounced CASH) is the memory your browser uses to temporarily store files that are automatically requested when visiting a website. Storing those files allows your browser to reload cache pages more quickly instead of transferring information over the web over and over again. This can save time and save the network the additional traffic load.
The cache memory of your browser is located on your computer's hard drive and therefore it is good routine maintenance to clean your browser's cache from time to time.
Clear your cache to fix
• Pages that freeze or do not finish loading.
• Updated pages showing old content.
• Online applications (such as games) that are not responding.
Browser cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer by your browser to personalize what you see on a web page. Generally, it is a good troubleshooting to delete cookies when you clear the cache.
Delete your cookies to fix
• Login problems (unable to login, unable to stay connected).
• Error messages about user cookie settings.
